William Trulock

March 11, 1916 — December 10, 2014

William Dale "Dale" Trulock was born March 11, 1916, in a farmhouse in Casner, Macon County, IL. He died December 10, 2014. He was the son of Eva Mae Goldsborough and Joseph Walter Trulock of Fayette and Macon County, IL, respectively. He married Carol Louise Pulliam on August 23, 1941, in Louisville, Clay County, IL. She survives. Dale grew up on the farm and his love and skill of gardening fresh vegetables continued well into his 90's. When he was a young man, he graduated from Eastern Illinois University, and his first job was teaching mathematics and coaching basketball at Paris, IL High School. When Pearl Harbor was bombed, the newlyweds moved to Tulsa, OK, so Dale could teach at Spartan Aircraft Academy to help train the pilots and mechanics for the WII effort. In 1954, Dale and Carol had the opportunity to move to Champaign, IL, and Dale joined the faculty of the University of Illinois Institute of Aviation. They lived in Champaign/Savoy for the remainder of their lives. Dale and Carol were enthusiastic supporters of Illini Athletics and were very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Champaign. In addition, Dale loved to hunt, fish and play bridge; he sang barbershop with the SPEBSQSA, he was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and he was a deacon in the Church. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, Eva and J.W. Trulock, and siblings Mildred Alice (Leone) Trulock Fonner, Chester Walter "Chet" Trulock, Sarah (Alta) Louise Trulock Alverson, Myrtle Vivian Trulock Nordholm and Glen K. Trulock (who was killed as a young man in the Korean War). His wife Carol survives. Also surviving are daughters Linda Sue Trulock Miller (husband Don Miller), and Janet Trulock Eardley (husband Tom Eardley). Dale and Carol were devoted to their 3 grandchildren Jason Thomas Eardley (wife Juli Florczak), Lisa Janette Eardley Leonarduzzi (husband Tony Leonarduzzi), and Thad David Miller. They were also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: triplets Braden, Connor and Grace Eardley, and Liliana June and Gia Serena Leonarduzzi. A private service for immediate family will be held in Louisville, Illinois, on December 22 at 1:00, and interment will take place at Old Orchard Cemetery in Louisville. A memorial celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be sent to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL. Please visit www.jwnealfuneralhome.net to leave memorial tributes, condolences or to light a candle. Order Flowers
