LOUISVILLE - William “Speedy” Lynn Bailey, 72 of Louisville, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31st 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

He was born August 24th, 1949, the son of William Woodrow Bailey and Opal Ferguson Bailey.

He married Sandra Sue Fowler on August 27th, 1966. He worked at Dawkins One Stop, B&C Auto and Prathers Auto Sales before opening Speedys Body Shop in 1970. In 1972, he opened Speedys Used Cars. Speedy was also a devout member of the Louisville United Methodist Church.

Speedy was known for many interesting things in his life. He had his own pronunciations of certain English words and he was not to be corrected. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, driving his truck and keeping it spotless. After a powerful change in life in 2016, Speedy began making contact with friends and family along with countless stories to become his #1 priority.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Brenda Bailey Hoover and Phyllis Bailey Weaver and brothers Elman Bailey and Butch Bailey, one nephew Jason Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Sue Bailey, one brother Gary (Judy) Bailey of Wayne City Il. son Brent (Monica) Bailey of Louisville. His daughter, Kristi (Dale) Haerr of Noble IL. Grandsons, Dustin Williams of Effingham, Johnny Zimmerman of Louisville, Dalton Zimmerman Apex,North Carolina, Bailey Zimmerman Nashville Tn., Nick Zimmerman Noble Il. Granddaughters Brooke Williams Champaign Il., Megan Weaver Louisville Il., Shay Farris of Clay City Il. and Andrea Hurd Branch Salem Il. Several nephews, nieces, great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Funeral services honoring the life of Speedy, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville with Brent Bailey officiating, burial will follow at the Old Union Cemetery, Bible Grove. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the church where friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Due to health concerns related to COVID-19, it is recommended that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
