Virginia Willis

Virginia Rose Willis, age 85, of Cahokia, IL, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 12, 2015 at her daughter Pat's residence in Olney, IL. Virginia was born February 26, 1930, in Flora to parents John Henry Mitchell and Bertie (Hord) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James C. Willis, whom she married on October 8, 1949, one sister, and two brothers. She is survived by her sister May Hemphill, Margaret Duke, and Margie Yingst, all of Flora, daughters Barbara Sheffield of Flora, Kathleen Sneed of Mattoon, and Pat Murray and Doris Jean King, both of Olney. She leaves behind two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Virginia's family will remember her most for her love for animals, for playing her piano and listening to classical music, and, above all, for her passion for learning. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Orchard Hill cemetery in Louisville. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the cemetery. J.W.
