Vida Bateman

Vida Kincaid Bateman, 95, of Flora, died at 10:03 A.M. Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois. Funral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 19, at the Louisville Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, September 18th at the Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Howard S. Bell will officiate at the services. Mrs. Bateman was born on December 23, 1916, in Clay County, the daughter of Clayton and Lizzie (Wilson) Kincaid. She married Burlin BAteman on March 29, 1935, and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1992. She was saved on November 6, 1950, at the Louisville Methodist Church and was baptized on January 7, 1951. She became a member of the church at that time. Mrs. Bateman is survived by one son, Darrell Bateman of Louisville; two daughters, Marilyn Bateman of Flora and Mrs. Carolyn (James) Banks of Mesa, Arizonia; one brother, Lowell F. Kincaid of Largo, Florida; two sisters, Ruby Gornet-Kelly of Kissimmee, Florida, and Jean Weber of Clayton, Indiana; three grandsons, Tim (Teresa) Bateman and Wes Bateman of Flora, and Dr. Sean Banks of Plantation, Florida; two great granddaughters, Staci (Ryan) Groves of Elgin, Oklahoma, and Nicole (Ted) Gardewine of Effingham; two great great grandchildren, Olivia Gardewine and Timothy Sylys Groves. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law, Lois; three brothers, Herschel, Robert and Theron; and one sister, Violet. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Louisville United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Neal Funeral Home.
