Thomas Greenwood

Thomas Lee Greenwood, 72, of Kinmundy passed away at 5:15 pm Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Odin Health Care Center in Odin, Illinois after a brief battle with cancer.

Thomas was born on October 4, 1950, in Salem, Illinois the son of Merle William and Virginia Lee (Spencer) Greenwood. Tom was a graduate of the Kinmundy Alma High School. He had received certificates as an auto mechanic, a diesel mechanic and certified as an HVAC tech. Tom had worked for several local farmers over the years. He loved his 2 dogs, and was a believer in working hard and doing all you can to help others, and he lived by that. He was a member of the Kinmundy Methodist Church in Kinmundy.

Thomas is survived by his sister: Margaret (Thomas) Turner of Salem; brother: Michael (Dena) Greenwood of Farina; 1 aunt: Betty Nelson of Effingham; 15 nieces and nephews, and many cousins, also survive.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Lewis Greenwood.

In accordance with Tom’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private burial will be held at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy. Memorials may be made in Tom’s memory to the Farina American Legion Firework Fund, in appreciation of all the good people that have been kind to him over the past years.
