Ronald Woods

Ronald Dean Woods, 79, of Xenia passed away at 4:54 pm, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Ronald was born on May 1, 1943 in Flora, Illinois the son of Loren “Slim” and Eileen (Dean) Woods. He married Helen (Susie) Hamilton on April 22, 1962 in Clay County, Illinois sharing 60 years of marriage and they were blessed with 3 children. Ronald had worked for Illinois Central Railroad and later for NAL where he retired. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ronald loved spending time in nature. Ronald was a member of the Xenia Methodist Church.

Ronald is survived by his wife: Susie Woods of Xenia; his 3 children: Herbie (Kim) Woods of Flora, Rhonda (Mike) Burdine of Xenia, and Shawn Woods of St. Louis, Missouri; 5 grandchildren: Brittany (Justin) Cook, Dakota (Cassie) Woods, Michael Burdine, Brody (Kari) Burdine, Bailey Burdine; and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Linda Young of Flora and Sue Habbe of Effingham.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Terry Woods; 2 brothers-in-law: Daryl Young and Ray Habbe; and one grandson: Austin Woods.

A memorial service to honor Ronald’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at McGriff Funeral Home in Flora, with Bobby McNeely officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening where friends may call from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
