Rev. Rollie J Meyer was born on November 27, 1945 at Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Harold E. and Yolanda (Crouch) Meyer. Rollie was called to be with his Lord and Savior on June 24, 2013 at 8:29 p.m. at Banner Del Webb Medical Center in Sun City, Arizona at the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 28 days. Rollie was baptized on January 13, 1946 and was confirmed on March 22, 1959. He was married to Judith A. (Willfong) on July 2, 1966 in Rock Island, Illinois. That union was blessed with three children: Julie Kerans of Florissant, MO; Marlena Meyer of Surprise, AZ; and Rollie Jr. of Mesa, AZ. There are four grandchildren; Cory Meyer, Brittany Kerans, and Alexis Kerans of Florissant, MO, and Dylan Meyer of Surprise, AZ. He served in the Army from April 1966 until his honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant in May of 1969. While living in Rock Island he was a Journeyman Wireman for the I.B.E.W. Local 145. In 1985 he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, IN and was ordained as a minister of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod on November 16, 1986. He served St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jackson, Missouri from 1986 to 1989; Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charleston, Illinois from 1989 to 1992 and St. John's Lutheran Church, Louisville, IL from 1992 until his retirement in December 2010. Surviving are wife, Judith Meyer of Surprise, AZ, son, Rollie J Meyer, Jr. of Mesa, AZ, daughters, Julie Kerans of Florissant, MO and Marlena Meyer of Surprise, AZ, brother, Harold Meyer and wife Jacque of Carmichael, CA, sister, Ellen Campbell and husband Doug of Rock Island, IL; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM on July 6, 2013, Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church located at 17684 East 1st Ave. Louisville, Illinois 62858 on the Effingham-Clay County line. He will be laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery, Louisville, IL on July 6, 2013 to await the Lord's call on that last day. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church.
