Robert M. "Bob" Eastin, age 91, of Flora, Illinois passed away at 8:50 am EST, Monday, October 6, 2025, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana.
Bob was born on January 9, 1934, in Flora, Illinois the son of Dale and Lola (Colclasure) Eastin. He married Lee Ann Dillman on June 4, 1956, at the Louisville Methodist Church in Louisville, and they shared 59 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 16, 2015.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army. He enlisted on July 18, 1956, and spent his service during peacetime, being honorably discharged on July 17, 1958, at Fort Hamilton, New York. His service is a testament to his character and sense of duty.
Bob, along with his brother, started and managed S & E Tool in Flora for many years, a venture that showcased his commitment to craftsmanship and service. His dedication to his work was evident not only in his professional endeavors but also in his personal interests and hobbies. A lifelong member of the NRA, Bob was passionate about firearms and an active participant at the County Line Gun Club in Noble, Illinois. He found both joy and challenge in pursuing various hobbies, including building and flying remote control airplanes and racing cars. At one point, he and his brother owned a remote racecar track facility in Flora, which brought him great happiness and allowed him to share his love for motorsports with others.
Bob's true passion lay in working on engines. His mechanical skills were remarkable, as he had a unique ability to make any engine-be it for a car, a motorcycle, or other machinery-run smoothly and efficiently. This talent was not merely a profession, but an expression of his dedication and a reflection of the joy he found in his work.
Bob is survived by his children: Sherry (Jimmy Beasley, Sr.) Tanner of Bloomington, Indiana, Robert Brett Eastin of Henderson, Kentucky, Jeffrey Dale (Lori) Eastin of Tooele, Utah; 7 grandchildren: Janet (Travis) Bewley, Jamie Eastin, Nyla (J.F.) Eckle, Jeb Tanner, Daleon Tanner, Ciara Eastin, Danika Eastin; 2 great-grandchildren: Quentin Bewley, and Astrid Bewley.
In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Russell Eastin, Topper Eastin, Deloris Slover, Nancy Bassett.
Graveside funeral services to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, where military graveside honors will be given. Burial will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob's memory to the Clay County Cancer Crusaders. Anyone attending the services are asked to gather at the cemetery just prior to service time.
