Pleasant "Bud" Robnett, age 89 of St. Charles, MO formerly of Kinmundy, IL died at The Villages Nursing Home in St. Peters, MO at 11:30 pm, Saturday, October 3, 2015. Bud graduated from Kinmundy High School in 1944. He spent his years of service in Japan where he earned the rank of Master Sergeant in 19 months. He entered college at the Univ. of Illinois in the fall of 1947 and with the help of the GI Bill earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1951. Bud owned and managed VIG Fertilizer Co. of Kinmundy, IL and Greendale Grain and Fertilizer Co. of Xenia, IL. Bud was a charter member of the Kinmundy Lions Club, and worked with the other Lions Club members on the consolidation of the country schools into the Kinmundy-Alma School District. He spent many hours going to all the country schools and encouraging them to support a new school system. When the measure passed he was elected President of the new school board. Additions and new buildings were needed for the new school district. His proudest achievement in that area was the design of the new Pit style gymnasium that so many fans enjoyed for decades. His brother Quentin, and sons all played basketball in that gym. Bud served 23 years on the Kinmundy City Council. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years, and along with several other dedicated members was instrumental in the formation of the Kinmundy-Alma Fire District in 1955. He was also a member of the Kinmundy American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He attended the Methodist Churches in Kinmundy, Ft. Myers, FL and St. Charles, MO. Funeral services for Pleasant "Bud" Robnett will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL with Rev. Duane Ambrose and Rev. David Kueker officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy, IL with military rites by the Kinmundy American Legion at the graveside. Visitation will by from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, at the Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL. Masonic rites to be held at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening. Memorials are requested to be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, Mt. Vernon, IL and Shriners Hospitals for Children. With his passing Bud Robnett leaves behind his wife: Karen Jones Robnett of St. Charles, MO, his sons: Charles and wife Jamie of Livingston, MT, Scott and wife Sandi of St. Charles, MO, and David of Scottsdale, AZ; his grandchildren: Quinn Robnett of Livingston, MT, Mitchell and Lauren Robnett of St. Charles, MO; and his sisters: Zola Blomberg of Farina, IL and Helen Phillips of Los Angeles, CA. Pleasant "Bud" Robnett was born September 17, 1926 in Kinmundy, IL to Pleasant F. and Lura Williams Robnett. He married Karen Jones on December 7, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers James Robnett and Quentin Robnett.
