Phyllis Ott

Phyllis Ann Ott, age 92, of Kinmundy, IL, passed away at 9:05 am, Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her home in Kinmundy. Phyllis was born August 4, 1921 in Bridgeport, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Ora (Fairbairn) Newkirk. She married Lloyd Ott on September 21, 1940 in Harrisburg, Nebraska. Lloyd preceded her in death on January 24, 2005. She spent her time as an educator and was employed by Morril County schools in Nebraska. She taught Kindergarten through 8th grades in a one-room schoolhouse. Phyllis is survived by sons, Jack L. (Lora) Ott of Shelton, Washinton, Jon L. (Mary) Ott of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Randy D. Ott of Olympia, Washington; daughter, Terri L. (Ed) Miller of Kinmundy, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Susan Ott of Auburn Washington, brother, Douglas H. (Dutchie) Newkirk of Bridgeport, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Robert Ott who passed on January 1, 2013. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded per her wishes and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Redington Cemetery rural Redington, Nebraska. Memorial donations may be made to the Kinmundy Public Library and will be received at the funeral home.
