Otto Stortzum

Otto John William Stortzum, age 93, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 6:05 am, Wednesday, March 13, 2012, at Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. Otto was born January 4, 1919 in Clay County, the son of Walter and Fredricka (Budde) Stortzum. He married Lorraine Margaret Brink on July 19, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Louisville. He enjoyed his time as a farmer and was a faithful member of St. John's Luthern Church. Otto was a member of the St. John's Parochial School Board and enjoyed serving in various church offices. Otto is survived by wife, Lorraine of Louisville; sons, Monty Stortzum and wife Sue of Dieterich, Delmar Stortzum and wife Donna of Troy, IL, and Maurice Stortzum of Tuscola, IL; daughters, Cheryl Woods of Troy, IL, Loretta Stortzum of Vandalia, IL, and Denise Hausman and husband Kenneth of Auburn, IL; brother August Stortzum of Mattoon, IL; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Fredricka Stortzum; son, Melvin Paul Stortzum, brothers Lester Stortzum and Paul Stortzum; and sister Ruby Pagel. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL. The family will recieve friends from 10:00am to 11:00am at St. John's Luthern Church on March 16, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the church on the same day of March 16, 2012. Interment will be at St. Matthew's in rural Dieterich. Memorials may be made to the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, or Lutheran World Relief and can be received at the funeral home or at St. John's the day of the service.
