Nolan Venable

Nolan Clifford Venable, age 90, of Flora, IL, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, IL. Nolan was born Thursday, July 2, 1925 in Flora, IL, the son of the late Curtis Venable and the late Cordelia (Wilfong) Venable. On July 14, 1946 he married Elizabeth (Guyott) Venable at the Flora First Christian Church. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2015. He was a retired Illinois State trooper and served in United States Army Infantry. He was a member of First Christian Church of Flora, as well as the Flora Masons, VFW and American Legion. Nolan is survived by son, Charles Patrick Venable of Flora, IL; daughter, Carol Lea (Bill) Poehler of Columbus, OH; grand children, Scott Allen (Kristy) Poehler, Eric Christopher (Veronica) Poehler, Jamen Bruce Venable, Kali Dawn (Ryan) Venable Strong; and 15 great grand children. He was preceded by his parents, wife, son Curtis Michael Venable, brother Charles Hubert Venable and great grandchild Elizabeth Jean Poehler. Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home of Louisville. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church in Flora, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded per his wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp, Clay County Hospice, or to the donor's choice.
