Nivaldo Montes

Nivaldo Montes, 86 of Kinmundy passed away at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1932 in Saint Nicholas, Cuba the son of the late Manuel and Francisca (Chavez) Montes. Nivaldo married Amelie Garces on July 12, 1961 in Guines, Cuba and she survives. Mr. Montes worked for Stanford Engineering in Salem for many years, afterwards he opened Montes Motor Sales in Kinmundy and continued its operation until his retirement. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Amelie, he is survived by two sons; Dr. Nivaldo Montes of Chicago and Rodney (Heather) Montes of Kinmundy, a daughter; Gisela (Michael) Hynes of Saint Louis, MO; Five grandchildren, Zane and Amelia Montes, Josey Charlton, Lianna Shepard and Robbie Gordon; Four Great-Grandchildren, Derek, J.R., Emerald and Sunny and by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service for Mr. Montes will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Patoka Pentecostal Church with Pastor Richard French officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3:00 PM until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
