Nina Britton

Nina Britton, age 93, of Hord, IL, passed away at 11:32 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Evergreen Nursing and ReHab in Effingham, IL. She was born September 9, 1920 in Champaign County, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Effie (Basford) Murphy. She was united in marriage with Thomas H. Britton on June 26, 1940 and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1985. Nina was employed for 33 years by Fedders Inc.in Effingham as an assembler and line clerk and was a member of Hord Congregational Christian Church. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Painter of Mason; special daughter, Joyce (Tony) Feldhake of Mason; special granddaughter, Jenna (Evan) Smith of Xenia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Effie Murphy; husband, Thomas Britton; seven brothers and two sisters. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home in Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Funeral service will be at J. W. Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 25, 2014, Daryl George officiating. Interment will be at Old Union Cemetery, Louisville, IL Memorial donations may be made to the Clay County Veterans Memorial and the Hord Congregational Christian Church and will be received at the funeral home.
