Nellie Vandyke

Nellie Carolyn VanDyke, age 74, of Louisville, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at her home in Louisville, IL. Nellie was born Monday, December 23, 1940 in Flora, IL, the daughter of the late Clovis Ballard and the late Geneva (Glardon) Ballard. She married Gerald "Bus" J. VanDyke on November 26, 1959 and to this union three sons were born. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1986. She was self-employed as a beautician and also worked for Hella Electronics in Flora. She attended Red Brush Christian Church and was an Olney FFA alumni member. Nellie is survived by sons, Jon (Katrina) VanDyke of Louisville, Jay VanDyke of Louisville, Jamie (Jessica) VanDyke of Olney; brother, Bennie (Cora) Ballard of Louisville; sister, Betty (Paul) Vest of Johnsonville; grand children, Parker, Paige and Paris VanDyke all of Louisville, and Jorri and Jakoby VanDyke of Olney. She is preceded in death by her parents, late husband, and sister Mary Smock. Arrangments are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at J. W. Neal Funeral Home. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery, Louisville, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Clay County Cancer Crusaders or Old Union Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
