Obituary

Nancy Carolyn Palmer, age 88, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 6:52 pm EST, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in the comfort of her daughter's home in Anderson.

Nancy was born on February 9, 1938, in Louisville, Illinois the daughter of Leland and Bessie (Able) O'Dell. Nancy was united in marriage to Leroy Gilbert Palmer on July 13, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana, and they shared 49 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 4, 2008.

For many years, Nancy dedicated herself to her career as an assembly worker for Delphi Interior Lighting, which was a division of General Motors. Her commitment was reflected in the work she did, and she approached her job with the same dedication she brought to every aspect of her life.

Nancy will be fondly remembered for the cherished memories created during family gatherings, particularly at Christmas time. She and her husband took great joy in spoiling their family, reveling in the joy of giving that defined their holiday seasons. Their generous spirit and love for each other united the family in lasting memories.

A woman of many interests, Nancy and her husband enjoyed metal detecting, passionately participating in treasure hunts around Indiana, as well as hosting events at a local campground in Chesterfield. Her competitive spirit shone brightly in these pursuits, and she shared countless joyful moments with friends and family while playing cards.

Nancy had a flair for fashion and an enduring love for shopping. Saturday mornings were a cherished ritual, beginning with breakfast followed by a day of shopping and dining out. Her wardrobe was adorned with animal prints and sparkly outfits, meticulously matched from top to bottom, reflecting her vibrant personality. She later embraced the convenience of QVC and HSN, eagerly filling her collection with stylish accessories.

Camping was another joy in Nancy's life. Together with her husband, they traveled to places like Maine and Martha's Vineyard in their camper van, creating memories surrounded by nature. They were passionate supporters of their grandchildren, attending every possible activity from softball to basketball, and never hesitating to host their grandchildren for sleepovers filled with pizza, sprite, popcorn, and movies. With a vibrant spirit and a personality that could only be described as "spicy to the end," Nancy was a beloved fixture in the lives of her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her daughter: Kelly Church of Anderson, Indiana; 3 grandchildren: Shanna Noveroske (Adam) Morgantown, Indiana, Shonda Howard (Alex) of Colorado, Nolan Church (Haley) of Anderson, Indiana; 7 great-grandchildren: Hayden and Hudson Noveroske of Morgantown, Indiana, Felix, Veda, Lucy, Franklin (Frankie) and Augustus (Gus-Gus) Howard of Colorado; her siblings: Connie Jones (Max McKinney) of Louisville, Larry (Mary) O'Dell of Flora, Tom O'Dell of Louisville; and many nieces and nephews.
