Minnie Merritt

Minnie Louise Merritt, 94, of Fairfield, passed away at 4:25 PM, Monday, October 26, 2020, at the Aperion Care Center in Fairfield. Minnie was born on December 25, 1925, in Marion County, Illinois the daughter of the late Raymond and Edith (Crain) Mulvaney. She married Ira G. Merritt, Jr., on November 27, 1948, and they shared 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 12, 1996. Minnie was a homemaker, and she loved to read a good murder mystery book and feed the birds that would come by her house. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Fairfield. She is survived by her children; Robert Merritt, of Fairfield, Judy (Leo) Thompson, of Fredericksburg, Texas, Donna Clark, of Alabama, 4 grandchildren; Jeff Thompson, of Texas, Jenny Thompson, of Texas, Danny Clark, of Alabama, Zach Merritt, of Canada, 1 great grandchild; Taylor Thompson, of Texas. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Linda Birk, of Lincoln, Illinois, Trudy Baker, of Longview, Texas. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, son; Ira G. Merritt, daughter; Iris Frunz, siblings; Homer Mulvaney, Gerald Mulvaney, John Mulvaney, Mal Mulvaney, Margaret Gain, Berniece Bryan, Evelyn Moon, Dorothy McCarty. Graveside services honoring the life of Minnie will be held at 1 PM, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Elder Cemetery, Kinmundy, with Justin Odom officiating, and burial to follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice. The McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Kinmundy has been entrusted with the care of arrangements.
