Mary Hampsten

Louise Hampsten, age 89, of Salem, IL, passed away at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her daughter's home in Salem, IL. Louise was born October 19, 1923 in Marion County, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Rachel M. (Shepard) Barnes. She was united in marriage with Virgil L. Hampsten on October 21, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri and to this union one son and one daughter were born. Louise was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Salem, Illinois and was a member of the Kinmundy Christian Church. She is survived by her son, Dennis Hampsten and wife Sue of Flora; daughter, Brenda Wilson and husband David of Salem; brother, Ralph Barnes and wife Dorothy of Salem; sister, Gladys Laux and husband Wilson of Carlyle; grandchildren, Neil Wilson of Austin, Texas, Kirk Wilson of Seattle, Washington, Sarah Hampsten of Humboldt, Illinois, and James Hampsten of Charleston, Illinois; and sisters-in-law, Helen and Leona Hampsten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Rachel Barnes; husband, Virgil Hampsten; brothers, Loren and Wayne Barnes; and sisters, Opal Brown and Jennie Barnes. Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2012. Funeral service will be at Neal Funeral Home at 1:30 PM, Sunday, November 25, 2012, Josh Conley officiating. Interment will be at Pratt Cemetery, Patoka, IL Memorials may be made to the Kinmundy Christian Church or the TIP Hospice.
