Martha Thackrey

Martha Ellen Thackrey, age 91, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 1:15 AM on March 28, 2014 at her home in Louisville. She was born July 5, 1922 in Louisville, IL, the daughter of Marion Elison Goodman and Maude Myrtle (Jennings) Goodman. She married Elmer Lee Thackrey on June 28, 1946 in Louisville, IL. She was self employed as a seamstress and owned a fabric shop called "Martha's Fabric Shop" in Louisville. She enjoyed her time as a fabric shop owner and professional seamstress. She was a member of Oak Mound Christian Church and was baptized in the Little Wabash River on September 29, 1950. She is survived by son, Lance (Loretta) Thackrey of Belle Rive, IL; daughters, Vicki (Mitch) Payne of Xenia, IL, Patricia (Richard) Whitman of Monmouth, IL, Felecia Thackrey of Manteno, IL; foster son, Lane (Charlsie) Scarbrough of Flora, IL; grandchildren, David Lee Thackrey, Amanda (Ryan) Gibson, Ashli (Blake) Davidson, Richard Whitman Jr., Alex (Jessica) Whitman, Renee (Bill) Cushman, Marnie (Martin) Henderson, Delane (Mary) Harrington, Cory (Jen) Harrington; foster grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Scarbrough, Monica (Andy) Dean, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and five sisters. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Interment will be at Orchard Hill cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Mound Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at the funeral home.
