Linda Thompson

Linda Kaye Thompson, 79, of Kinmundy, passed away at 11:30 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora. Linda was born on September 8, 1941, in Kinmundy the daughter of the late Charles "Beck" and Peggy (Olden) Jenkins. She married Donald H. Thompson on October 12, 1956 at the Kinmundy Christian Church and they shared 64 years of marriage. Linda was a co-owner of Don's Meat Processing of Kinmundy for 32 years. She was a member of the Kinmundy Christian Church and was baptized on April 6, 1952 and from 1968 until 911 came into effect she answered most all of the emergency calls for the local fire and ambulance, then in 1985 she was Woman of the Year of the Beta Sigma Phi, and in 1990 was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Kinmundy Lions Club. Linda is survived by her husband; Donald H. Thompson, of Kinmundy, 4 children; Donnie Lee (Froncie Yates) Thompson, of Kinmundy, Julie (Steve) Pettit, of Acworth, GA, Jeanne (Greg) Sullivan, of Bedford, IN, Janet (James) Mulvany, of Kinmundy, 8 grandchildren; Corey (Tara) Thompson, of Kinmundy, Curtis (Rachel) Thompson, of Kinmundy, Nick (Stacy) Sullivan, of Williams, IN, Nathan (Pier) Sullivan, of Bloomington, IN, Clay Sullivan, of Bedford, IN, Trista (David) Altman, of Pana, IL, Tyler (Heather) Mulvany, of Flora, Terah Jo (Ryan) Waterman, of Flora, 16 great grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Wanda. Graveside services honoring the life of Linda will be held at 2 PM, Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Oskaloosa Cemetery with James Mulvany officiating, and burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp or the Kinmundy/Alma Fire District. McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Kinmundy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
