Linda Sue Hartsey, age 78, of Louisville, Illinois passed away at 11:11 am, Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
Linda was born on May 13, 1947, in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Burhman Dale and Aline (Mitchell) Headlee. She married Floyd Steve Hartsey on March 20, 1970, in Louisville and they shared 55 years of marriage.
For many years, Linda dedicated herself to the restaurant industry, where she utilized her culinary talents to bring people together around the table. Alongside her husband, Steve, she was proud to own and operate the S & L Cafe in Louisville, a space that became a cornerstone for countless individuals looking for good food and warm company. The cafe was not just a job for Linda; it was a labor of love where she built lasting relationships with friends and customers alike. Her passion for cooking was only matched by her knack for making everyone feel welcome.
Linda's interests extended far beyond the kitchen. She had a deep love for travel, often visiting Gatlinburg and taking trips to St. Louis to spend time with her sister. These adventures brought her immense happiness, creating cherished memories that she held dear. Linda thrived on connecting with others, always eager to visit with the countless friends she made throughout her life.
A member of the Louisville Methodist Church, Linda's faith played an essential role in her life, grounding her with community support and guidance.
Linda is survived by her husband: Steve Hartsey of Louisville; children: Marsha (Edward) Linnabary of Carbondale, Mitchell (Robin) Hartsey of Louisville, Amanda (Keith) Haskins of Louisville; 8 grandchildren: Danielle (Joey) Easton, Drew Dyer, Austin Hartsey, Jacob (Kenzie) Hartsey, Stormie Hartsey (Austen Barnett), Abby (Ryan Kistner) Hartsey, Jaden Garrison, Summer Haskins; 6 great-grandchildren with number 7 arriving in February; one sister: Judy Miketta of St. Louis, Missouri.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside funeral services to celebrate Linda's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Golden Cemetery, rural Louisville with Brenda Byers officiating. Burial will follow the services. Anyone attending the services are asked to gather at the cemetery just prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Linda's memory to the Linda E. White Hospice House.
