Letha Whitney-Gordon

Letha G. Whitney-Gordon, age 96, of Kinmundy, IL, passed away at 7:00am, Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at her home in Kinmundy. Letha was born Sunday, July 21, 1918 in Clay County, IL, the daughter of the late Loyd Mulvaney and the late Martha (Henke) Mulvaney. She married Roy Whitney on December 23, 1945 in Salem, IL and he preceded her in death in July 1988. On October 14, 1995, she married Arthur Gordon at Brown Christian Church and he preceded her in death in November 2005. She enjoyed her time as a homemaker and was a faithful member of Brown Christian Church. She also worked at Brown's Produce, cooked at Salem Township Hospital oand Helen's TLC in Farina, as well as worked at Fisk's store in Omega and was also a caregiver. Letha is survived by daughters, Joyce Stearns of Holts Summitt, MO, Vicki (Bob) Ingram of Kinmundy, IL, Pat (Joe) McClain of Salem, IL, Beverly (Bob) Wodtka of Salem, IL and Brenda Weeks of Farina, IL; step-sons, Charles (Helen) Whitney of Farina, Dale (Betty) Whitney of Salem, Gary Gordon of Florida; step-daughters, Mima Lee Shaw of Salem, Shirley Jahraus of Farina, Donna Brooks of Florida; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as several great great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, both husbands, brother Gale Whitney, infant brother John William Mulvaney, sister Berneice Hockman, and step grandchild. Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015. A Funeral service will be held at Brown Christian Church at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 18, 2015. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday at 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Brown Christian Church. Interment will be at Phillips Cemetery, Kinmundy, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Brown Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at the funeral home.
