Larry Bartels

Larry Dale Bartels, age 75 of Flora, IL, passed away, Friday, February 3, 2017, at 3:51 am, at Flora Rehab & Healthcare Center in Flora. Larry was born Monday, July 21, 1941 in Clay County, the son of the late Art Bartels and the late Kathleen Bartels. On December 24, 2011, he was united in marriage to Marianne Moffett in Louisville. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2012. Larry was married earlier in life and tragically lost his wife and children in a car accident. He was a United States Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was self employed as a farmer and was a member of Red Brush Christian Church. He is survived by step-son, James L. (Kristi) Moffett of Grand Forks, ND; step-daughters, Shari L. (John) Snobeck of Mekinock, ND, Camy (John) Haugen of East Grand Fork, MN, Renee (Gene) Keller of Louisville; cousins, Mary Borries of Teutopolis, Tim Moeri of Kentucky, Billy Bartels of Iola, Donald Roberts of Decatur; thirteen step-grand children and seven step-great grand children. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, first wife and children, second wife Marianne and step-grandson Josh Keller. Arrangements are being entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A private burial will be held at a later date in Red Brush Cemetery, Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at the funeral home.
