MASON – Kathy A. Kessel, 68, of Mason passed away peacefully at 4:23 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born on January 5, 1953, in Flora, daughter of Cecil J. and Lois “Cox” Thilker. She married James Kessel on February 7, 1997, and they celebrated almost 9 years of marriage before he passed away on January 9, 2006. Kathy worked as a Civil Engineer for IDOT for 20+years and retired in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She loved her family dearly. Kathy loved to travel, riding her motorcycle, and cooking. She wanted to travel to every state. She attended Christ Church in Effingham.
Kathy is survived by her 3 sons, Tim Wilson, of Mason; Greg (Elizabeth) Wilson, of Mason; Sean (Michelle) Wilson, of Hillsboro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lukas, Liam, Juleigha, Preston, and Coralai. Her siblings John Thilker of Toledo; Kristy (John) Slifer of Effingham; Karen Thilker of Effingham; Jim (Chris) Thilker of Olney; Karla (Scott) Koester of Watson; Jared (Sharla) Thilker of Shelbyville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Kathy also left behind her fur baby Harley.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services honoring the life of Kathy will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville with Jeff Michael officiating, burial will follow at Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home where friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fear Nothing in Effingham or to Doner’s Choice.
