Juanita Schoonover

Juanita Lorena Schoonover, age 93, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 8:08 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2016, at her home in Louisville, IL. Juanita was born November 27, 1922 in Oskaloosa Township, Illinois, the daughter of the late Norris E. Pickel and the late Opal Marie (Montgomery) Pickel. She married Stanford P. Schoonover on August 31, 1940 in Henderson, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2001. She enjoyed her time as a homemaker and helping on the farm. She was a member of Bethel Christian Church and was the past president of the Women's Auxillary of the state of Illinois and water conservation. She was also a member of the Louisville American Legion Auxillary. Juanita is survived by sons Dale (Carol) Schoonover of Clarksville, TN, Darrell (JoAnn) Schoonover of Louisville; daughters Sandy Schoonover of Louisville, Sylvia DeCroix of Rushville, IL; daughter-in-law Ronna Lee Schoonover of Louisville; sister Francis (Ray) Hosselton of Louisville; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Donald Eugene Schoonover and Gary Deon Schoonover, daughter Shirley Jean Peters, half brother Dwight Pickel, son-in-law Charles DeCroix, and grandson Kaelin Colclasure. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 6, 2016. A celebration of life will be held at Bethel Christian Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, with a one hour visitation prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Oskaloosa Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children and will be received at the funeral home.
