John Hubert Mitchell, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, IL, passed away at 6:20 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Nuture Trails Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. John was born March 02, 1932 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of the late John and the late Addie (Schuler) Mitchell. He was employed by the city of Mt. Vernon as a maintenance man and was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. John is survived by his daughter Sandra and son-in-law Jack Deadmond of Sandoval, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2015. A memorial service will be held at J.W. Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Miliary rites will be accorded by Kinmundy American Legion #519. A private family burial will take place at a later time in Martin Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded per his wishes. Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
