Jerry Lee Staggs, age 75, of Hord, IL, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, at home. He was the son of Georgie and Helen (Peterson) Staggs. Jerry was a 1959 graduate of North Clay High School in Louisville, IL. He married Ann (Busch-Cooley) September 1970 in Decatur, IL. Jerry attended Hord Congregational Christian Church. He had businesses in Decatur, Mt. Zion, Mason and also Staggs Farm Equipment in Louisville. In later years, he worked for a trucking company hauling U.S. Mail. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and being outdoors. He leaves to mourn his passing, his Wife, Ann of Hord; Children, Diane (Greg) Severe of Decatur, Jeff Staggs of Effingham, Roger (Elsie) Cooley of Charleston, Theresa (Jerry) Elking Prigal of Austin, TX, Bryan Cooley of Effingham, Tanya Cooley of Charleston; Grandchildren, Trisha Cooley of Jacksonville, FL, Ashley (Andrew) Elking Doss of Austin, TX, Tiffany Elking of Chicago, Raeann (Jereme Endrizzi) Severe of Cerro Gordo, Renee (Jim Sullivan) Severe of Urbana, IL, Jamie Prigal of Sunrise, FL, Philip Prigal of Brooklyn, NY, Michael Prigal of Jacksonville, FL, Josh (Deb) Ochs of Newton, IL, Melissa (Scott) Bensken of Greenup, IL, Jon (Tonya) Ochs of Hartford, TN, Jasmin, Ava, Isabella and Olivia Cooley all of Charleston, Christian Warren of Charleston; Great Grandchildren, James Sullivan of Urbana, Annabeth Endrizzi of Cerro Gordo, Jon Cline Ochs of Hartford, TN, Jamison Doss and Colton Doss of Austin, TX; Sister-in-law, Hildegard Arndt of Bad Schwalbach, Germany; Aunt, Alta Peterson of Effingham and several cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Dale Staggs (died in Vietnam); Sister-in-law, Edith (Busch) Lenkner of Giessen, Germany; Brothers-in-law, Harry Lenkner of Giessen, Germany, Erich Arndt of Wiesbaden, Germany and several aunts and uncles. Arrangments are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, IL where the family will received friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hord Congregational Christian Church, with a one hour visitation beginning at 10:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery, Louisville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hord Congregational Christian Church or HSHS Hospice and may be recieved at the funeral home.
