Jerry Mitchell

Jerry Loren Mitchell, age 79, of Louisville, passed away at 3:28 am, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. Jerry was born December 17, 1937, in Clay County, IL, the son of the late Loren "Jack" Mitchell and the late Olive (Schroeder) Mitchell. He was a retired prison guard and was employed by the juvenile detention center in Harrisburg, IL. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a past member of the Louisville American Legion, VFW, and a past member of the Clay County Regulators. He leaves to mourn his passing, sisters, Jeane (Edwin) Robertson of Minooka, IL, Mary Ann (Robert) Stortzum of Louisville, Nancy (Lou) Kincaid of Holland, MI; granddaughter, Anissa MItchell of Flora; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Mitchell. Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the mausoleum at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to Full Armor Christian Academy or Pine Haven Children's Ranch in Montana, and will be received at the funeral home.
