LOUISVILLE – Jencie Karen Butcher, 75, of Louisville passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at her home in Louisville.

Jencie was born on October 27, 1946, in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of William Orloff and Mildred Lafern (Montgomery) Smith. She married Xenophon B. “Pete” Butcher, Jr., on May 26, 1967, at the Bethel Christian Church, Louisville, Illinois and they shared 54 years of marriage.  Jencie received her Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s of the Woods in August of 1982. She worked for the Department of Human Services at the Clay County Public Aid office as an Administrator for 35 years and retired in 2002. She was a lifetime member of the Bethel Christian Church. She spent her days filled with her favorite hobbies of reading, puzzles, watching hummingbirds, and most of all spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, 3 children; Kristina (John) Schnepper, of Sailor Springs, Annette (John) Gullidge, of Louisville, and Xon (Vanessa) Butcher, of Falfurrias, Texas; 6 grandchildren; Hanna (Matt) Page, of Edgewood, Abbey (Cole Roberson) Schnepper, of Effingham, Braxton Gullidge, of Louisville, Bryce Gullidge, of Louisville, Breanne Gullidge, of Champaign, and Xonilli Butcher, of Falfurrias, Texas. Step grandchildren; Destiny, Miranda, and Marty of Falfurrias, Texas, Michael Schnepper, of Woodbury, and Emily Riggs, of Ohio. Great grandchildren; Harper, Hazel, and Halle Page, and Carter and Cooper Roberson. Step Great grandchildren; Quentin and Isabella Grayson, and Macie and Lauren Schnepper. She is also survived by one brother; Gary Smith, of Louisville.

Mrs. Butcher was preceded in death by her parents, her-in-laws; brothers Leland Smith and Harland Smith, and sisters Rita Cosner and Wanda Shroyer.

Funeral services honoring the life of Jencie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville with James Mulvany officiating, burial will follow at the Oskaloosa Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jencie’s memory to Oil Belt Christian Camp and will be accepted through the funeral home.
