Helen Owens

Helen Joyce Owens, of Newton, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:30 am at her home. Helen was born December 18, 1936, in Edgewood, IL, the daughter of the late Albert Hockman and the late Tressa (Cohea) Hockman. In June of 1994, she married Richard Owens in Bogota, IL. She was employed by GE and ADM factories in Decatur, IL, and also worked cleaning homes. She loved flowers and gardening. Helen is survived by her husband Richard of Newton; son, David (Valerie) Larck of Lovington, IL, daughters, Loretta (Harold) Marsh of Olney, IL, Lawanda (Butch) Woodard of Thornton, CO; step-sons, Mike Owens of Louisville and Richard (Gina) Owens of Watson, IL; sister, Janice (John) Carter, Gassville, AR; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, step son Jamie Owens, brother Robert Hockman, sister Nina Everett, and granddaughter Ashla Owens. Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville, where the family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017. A private family service will be held at a later date.
