Harold Chance

Harold J Chance, age 88, of Middleburg, FL, formerly of Kinmundy, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL. Harold was born September 1, 1924 in Kinmundy, Illinois, the son of Clarence S. and Stella F. (Brimberry) Chance. He was united in marriage with Irene Chance and to this union three sons and five daughters were born. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Fleming Island. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteered as a professional clown and enjoyed spending time in lapidery, gardening and raising Amaryllis. He was a World War II Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army in the European, North African and Pacific Theatres. He had worked as an auto body repairman. He also enjoyed his time working with the group Waste Not Want Not. He is survived by sons, Darrell Hanna and wife Sue of Orange Park, Florida, Del Chance and wife Meg of Bloomington, and David Chance of Scio, Oregon; daughters, LaVrene Norton and husband Mike of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Annette Chance of Orange Park, Florida, Mary Ellen Hummel and husband Martin of Jefferson City, Missouri, Christina Chase and Mark Plumb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Dia Langellier and husband Randy of Springfield; brother, Kenny Chance of Salem; sisters, Betty Mulvaney of Kinmundy, Dot Chance and Donna Lou Owens both of Salem; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Stella Chance; and wife, Irene Chance. Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy, IL where the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013. Funeral service will be at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013, Josh Conley officiating.
