Harold Behnke

KINMUNDY - Harold L. Behnke, 79, of Kinmundy passed away at 10:50 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Doctors Nursing & Rehab Center. Harold was born on December 22, 1941, in Iuka, the son of the late Charles and Trece (Holman) Behnke. He married Marilyn J. Pope on May 12, 1972, in Shelbyville, Illinois and they shared 48 years of marriage. Harold was a farmer and was a bus driver for the South Central School District for 18 years. He loved spending time with his family, going to basketball games and checking on his cattle. Harold is survived by his wife; Marilyn Behnke of Kinmundy, 2 children; Charles (Tonya) Behnke, of Flora, Tracy (David) Wollin, of St. Peter, Illinois, 3 step-children; Tamara (Jim) Burnett, of Springfield, Illinois, Rick (Sheila) Herbord, of Ramsey, Illinois, Larry (Sondra) Herbord, of Vandalia, Illinois. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Christina Behnke Sturm, 5 siblings; Kathryn Nevel, Lucille Steurer, Robert Behnke, Barbara Hinman, and Rita Behnke. Graveside services honoring the life of Harold will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the Iuka Cemetery with Russell McCulley officiating, and burial will follow. Those attending the services should go directly to the cemetery on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice. McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Kinmundy is entrusted with the care and arrangements.
