Garland Mcgee

Garland Eugene "Gene" McGee, age 76 of Ramsey, IL, formerly of Louisville and Los Fresnos, TX, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 12:22 pm at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Gene was born on January 28, 1942 in Bible Grove, IL, the son of the late Vernon and Velma (Bailey) McGee. He was united in marriage to JaniceTurner on August 24, 1960 in Palmyra, MO. She survives in Ramsey, IL. He spent his time self employed as an over-the-road truck driver and owner/operator. He was a member of Woborn Church of Christ in Greenville, IL and a member of the VFW. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was sent to Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Gene leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Janice McGee of Ramsey; children Judy of Ramsey and Jeff and wife Becky of Effingham; brother Robert and wife Vicki McGee of Effingham; sister Sharon and husband David Wood of Grosebeck, TX; grandchildren Stephanie (Aaron) Jackson of Effingham, Chelsie (Kenny) Koenig of Effingham; great grandchildren Keagyn, Kamden and Kalynn Koenig and Cordelia Jackson all of Effingham. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Paul McGee, brother Homer Vernon McGee and sister Lulu Mae Reiling. Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville. A visitation will be held at 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Friday, March 23, 2018 at Old Union Church of Christ in Bible Grove. A memorial service will be held at the church at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at Old Union Cemetery where military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Old Union Church of Christ and will be received by the funeral home.
