Elsie M Wheeler, age 69, of Reeds Spring, MO, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at her home in Reeds Spring, MO. Elsie was born March 5, 1944 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy (Landreth) Spencer. She was united in marriage with Larry Wheeler. Elsie and her husband, Larry, were "snowbirds" living in the area during the summer and in Florida during the winter. She was a seamstress and her sewing career involved work with a bridal shop in Bloomington, Illinois and then for 17 years working with the costumes at the Entertainment Department of Silver Dollar City, Missouri from 1994-2010. Elsie enjoyed her grandchildren, and always desired to see them enjoying life, through sports, fishing, boating and other activities, pursuing dreams and fulfilling goals. She continued to nurture her relationship with her four sisters, but her greatest love was for her husband, Larry. As Elsie prepared for the last days of her life, she turned her attention to her Maker whom she had placed her faith to carry her home to a place that offered her a new body and had no suffering. A place where she would be free once again to enjoy those things that God had uniquely designed in her to enjoy. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Larry Wheeler of Reeds Spring, Missouri; son, Clay Wheeler and wife Justine of Hudson, Illinois; daughter, Brenda Leto of Palatka, Florida; sisters, Jean Esker of St. Louis, Missouri, Belle Boudreau of Tucson, Arizona, Betty Klanke of Louisville, Illinois, and Helen Klanke of Brownsville, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda Podeschi and husband Rick of Mattoon, Illinois; grandchildren, Wyatt Wheeler, Cole Wheeler, Abigail Wheeler, Dustin Anderson, Ariel Leto, Jude Leto and Seth Leto; 13 nephews and 8 nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
