Dorothy Barnick

Dorothy Marie Barnick, age 90, of Louisville, passed away at 7:58 am, Friday, April 6, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. Dorothy was born July 16, 1921 in Princeton, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert August and Elsie Emile Rick (Schwantes) Fredrick. In Princeton, Minnesota, she was united in marriage with Martin Ludwig Ernest Barnick on July 7, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1944. She was then united in marriage with Carl John Barnick on January 4, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2001. She was a faithful member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and also a member of the church's Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her time as a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ernest Barnick and wife Darlene of Louisville, Paul Barnick and wife Barb of Decatur, and Robert Barnick and wife Linda of Teutopolis; daughter, Dixie Stremming and husband Garlord of Strasburg; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie Fredrick; husbands, Martin Barnick and Carl Barnick; son, infant Arthur Roy Barnick; daughter, infant Louise Ella Barnick; brother, Ernest Fredrick Schwantes; and granddaughter-in-law, Suzanne Fusom Barnick. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 9, 2012. Funeral service will be at the St. John's Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 10, 2012, Ryan Eden officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery.
