Dionne Virginia Creamer, age 87, of Louisville, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in her home.
Born on October 18, 1938, in Clay City, Illinois, the daughter of Earl Monroe and Lelia Mae (Mitchell) Herdes. Dionne was united in marriage to Max Creamer on March 7, 1959, at the Sailor Springs Christian Church, and they shared 29 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 12, 1990.
A graduate of Clay City High School in the class of 1956, Dionne embarked on her professional journey immediately after graduation. She devoted 38 years to the Clay City Banking Company, where she built a career distinguished by loyalty and diligence until her retirement in October 2005.
Dionne's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Sailor Springs Christian Church. Following her marriage, she transferred her membership to Bethel Christian Church in Louisville, Illinois, where she remained a steadfast attendee, missing services only due to illness or special circumstances. Her spiritual life was a source of strength and guidance throughout her years.
An avid gardener, Dionne found joy in nurturing a variety of flowers, savoring the beauty and tranquility that came with tending to her garden. Above all, her devotion to family was unwavering. She took great pride and interest in the lives of her grandchildren, faithfully attending their sporting events and celebrating their achievements with a loving heart.
Dionne is survived by her daughters: Teresa Yates of Louisville, Regina (Paul) Schnepper of Clay City; grandchildren: Amanda (Jake) Miller, Sarah (Mitch) Kelly, Joshua (Erika) Yates, Natalie (Zach) McCain, Michelle (Lester) Haake, Brandon Yates; great-grandchildren: Tison Fitzjarrald, Jase Miller, Jaxon Miller, Savannah (Landon) Savage, Bailey Hall, Kenzi Hall, Rhett Kelly, Gavin Kelly, Lucas Haake, Logan Haake, Liam Yates, Marlee Yates, Violet McCain, Otto McCain, Iris McCain, Justine Lawson; great-great-granddaughters: Evelyn Savage, Audrey Lawson; sister: Darlene Pierson of Flora; brother: David Herdes of Clay City; nieces: Kathy Lauderback, Karita (Brad) Stevens, Lelia Newman, Kathleen Kuhlig-Carter; nephews: Ray (Lori) Williams, David Earl (Charie) Herdes, Mark (Michelle) Kuhlig; great-nieces: Andrea (Dalton) Cash, Nikki Kuhlig; great-nephews: Tyler Stevens, Lucas Stevens, Dillon Stevens great-great-nieces: McKynlee, Hadley, and Brynlee Cash; also survived by several cousins.
In addition to her husband, Dionne was also preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law: Earl & Essie Creamer; sister: Donna Herdes; brother-in-law: Kenneth Creamer; sisters-in-law: Wana Kuhlig, and Peggy Herdes; nephews: Wayne Williams, and Ray Kuhlig.
Funeral services to celebrate Dionne's life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with James Mulvany officiating. Burial will follow at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and then on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dionne's to HEIR Christian Ministries (which Zach and Natalie are involved in) or the Clay County Cancer Crusaders, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
