Denton Glen Brasel Sr., 90, of Kinmundy, passed away at 5:41 am on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on March 4, 1930 in Kinmundy, the son of the late Glen Benton and Dola O. (Chasteen) Brasel. He married Nelly Suarez on March 16, 1951 in Cameron, Texas and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2004. Denton later remarried Judith Ream on June 1, 2004 in Freemont, Ohio and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2019.
Mr. Brasel served in the United States Air Force retiring after several years of duty and service. He was a sharpshooter and served on the president's rifle team. After his military duty, Denton became a schoolteacher at South Central School District teaching physics, chemistry and science. He was also active in farming. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Kinmundy and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6985 located in Salem.
Denton is survived by a son, Denton Glen (Darlette) Brasel Jr. of Kinmundy, three daughters; Millie (Richard) Shepherd of Mattoon, Denise (Tim) Satterfield of Prineville, Oregon and Linda (Tony) Schade of Nevada, twenty grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, a brother; James (Nancy) Brasel of St. Elmo, three sisters; Nellie (Sam) Hiestand of Salem, Linda (Maurice) Robb of Kinmundy and Clara Deadmond of Altamont. Besides his parents and spouses, Denton was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Brasel and by two grandchildren.
Private funeral services honoring the life of Denton will be conducted at Gray Cemetery in Kinmundy. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
