Della Stanford

Della Rosa Stanford, 84, of Effingham, passed away at 3:47 pm Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Della was born on January 25, 1938, in Mahomet, Illinois the daughter of Clyde and Ellen (Birch) Schrader. Della had worked for the North Clay Elementary School as a secretary for a time then later went to World Color Press in Effingham and worked there for many years until she retired. Della was very active in the Effingham Senior Center, she loved to play Bingo, and attended all their special events that the Senior Center hosted. Della loved her grandkids greatly wanting to see them every chance she could. She was a member of the Louisville American Legion Auxiliary Post #914, Effingham VFW Auxiliary Post #1769. When Della was able, she had attended the Christ Church in Effingham.

Della is survived by her son: Kelly (Twila) Stanford of Lafayette, LA; daughter: Sheila Dawkins of Louisville; 4 grandchildren: Katyln (Chris) Decou, Samantha Stanford, Kylie (Bret) Dawkins, Tanner (Jennica) Dawkins; 5 great grandchildren: Macy, Mila, Nora, Noah, Annie.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; son: Kevin Stanford; grandson: Shane Courtright; 2 brothers: Harold Schrader, and Howard Schrader.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Della will be held at 6:00 pm, Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will take place at a later date at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Della's memory to the Effingham Senior Center.
