Dean O'Dell

Dean O'Dell, age 72, of Ingraham, IL, passed away at 2:46 pm, Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Dean was born Wednesday, February 12, 1941 in Cripple Creek, CO, the son of Harold and Winnie (James) O'Dell. On August 25, 1991 he was united in marriage to Rose Workman. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Amerian Legion of Sailor Springs and was a faithful member of the Holy Cross Church of Wendelin. He was employed by Hughes Aircraft of California as an engineer. Dean is survived by wife, Rose O'Dell of Ingraham; sons, James O'Dell of California, Matt O'Dell of California, Mark O'Dell of California, Luke O'Dell of Indiana; daughter, Charlotte Kirkpatrick of Massachusetts; brothers, Chuck O'Dell of New Mexico, James O'Dell of Colorado; sisters, Anna Barnett of New Mexico, Darlene Garroute of Oklahoma, Laura Gearhart of Colorado; 16 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Walter O'Dell and Larry O'Dell, sister Thelma O'Dell and infant sister Regina O'Dell. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, December 6, 2013. Funeral service will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, IL at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2013. Interment will be at Brooks Cemetery, rural Ingraham, IL. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Clay County Health Department and will be received at the funeral home.
