Charles E. Cox, 90, of Louisville, passed away at 9:06 am on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his home in Louisville.
Charlie was born on April 10, 1929 in Jasper County the son of the late Chlorus E. Cox and Margaret (Rinehart) Cox-Dyson. He married Mildred Salter on July 29, 1950 in Flora and she survives.
Mr. Cox served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953. He owned and operated Agri-Mart Implement in Flora alongside his brothers, Larry and Carl Wayne for many years until his retirement in 1994. Charlie was a dedicated member of Red Brush Christian Church for over 70 years. He had served as a past deacon and elder. Charlie was a John Deere enthusiast and enjoyed collecting various John Deere memorabilia. He enjoyed attending reunions with his fellow Army servicemen. He and Mildred attended several of those reunions all over the country. Charlie was a family man and enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, Mildred, he is survived by three sons; Dennis E. (Betty) Cox of Flora, Gary A. (Phyllis) Cox of Flora and Jeremy Cox of St. Charles, Missouri, two daughters; Debra (David) Grahn of Louisville, and Cindy (Stuart) Boose of Louisville, ten grandchildren; Erin (Brad) Nesbitt, Amber (Jimmy) Teigen, Emily (Shea) Thomann, Andrea (Eric) Moorman, Brooke (Lee) O'Donnell, Alison Cox, Amanda (Chad) Eckleberry, Hayley (Wes) Anderson, Anthony (Jena) Boose and Evan (Nicole) Boose, twenty three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, two brothers; Dannie (Eunice) Cox of Newton and C.J. (Gloria) Cox of Peoria, Arizona and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. Besides his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by four brothers; Carl Wayne Cox, Neil Ray Cox, Larry Cox and a brother in infancy Merle Dean Cox, a grandson in infancy, Lucas Alan Cox, and by his stepfather, Frank Dyson.
Funeral services honoring the life of Charles will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville. Pastor Brian Hamilton will officiate. Interment will follow at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of services at 3:00 pm on Sunday at the church. The Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville is in charge of the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jesus Loves Me Home in Haiti or to Pinehaven Home of Montana.
