Chalon Richard Carter, 82, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 4:20 am, Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Paris Community Hospital in Paris Illinois.

Richard was born on May 14, 1942, in Norris City, Illinois the son of Chalon and Minnie Louise (Etienne) Carter. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Kuhlig on August 18, 1979, at the Central Christian Church in Charleston, Illinois, and they shared 45 years of marriage. Richard was a hard worker, and even in his retirement, he found great pleasure in working outdoors. He was a talented woodsman, devoting countless hours to cutting and splitting firewood. An enthusiast of muscle cars, he delighted in reminiscing about the races of his youth. His love for machinery extended to the annual Charleston Tractor Pulls, which he eagerly attended every year. Above all, Richard cherished his family. His love for them was evident in his every action and his every word. His life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the importance of family.
