Cecil Ray Hinkle, age 84 of Clay City, IL, passed away at 9:40 AM on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Flora Gardens Healthcare in Flora, IL. He was born on April 13, 1929 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Pearl R. Hinkle and Opal B. (Robinson) Hinkle. Cecil was a retired welder and press operator with the company of Fedders in Effingham, IL. He was also a prison guard at several prisons throughout his life, including in Joliet. He joined the Wabash Baptist Church on October 22, 1944. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by brothers, Frank Hinkle and wife Marjorie of Lousville, Norman Hinkle of Fairfield, IL, Jerry Hinkle and wife Kay of Cisne, IL; sister, Wanda Gerber of Louisville, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Opal Hinkle; brother, Tom Hinkle and infant sister, Norma Jane Hinkle. Funeral arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home in Louisville, Illinois. The family will receive friends and family on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 12:00pm noon to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 1:00pm also at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by the Louisville American Legion Post 914. Bill Cash will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Louisville American Legion Post 914 and will be received at the funeral home.
