Bruce Garrison, age 87, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 6:40 pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Flora Rebilitation and Health Care Center in Flora. Bruce was born November 25, 1928, in Flora, IL, the son of the late Sherman B. and the late Stella M. (Clark) Garrison. He married Mildred Anderson on April 10, 1955 at St. Paul's Church of Christ, rural Bible Grove. He graduated from Flora High School in 1946. On September 18, 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was assigned to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines Islands from December 9, 1950 to September 25, 1952. He was discharged on November 6. 1653. After he married Mildred, they moved to Cincinnati, OH where he worked as a policeman for the B & O Railroad. In the spring of 1958, he moved back to Illinois with his wife and a little boy. He was always a farmer at heart and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Flora and the American Legion of Flora. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church where he served as president, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He made many friends through the purebred hog business and a salesman for Burrus Seed Corn for 53 years. He was also a 4-H leader. Bruce is survived by his wife Mildred of Louisville; sons Norman (Brenda) Garrison of Louisville, Brian (Cheryl) Garrison of Louisville; daughters Lavonne (Philip) Kemmerer of Louisville, Charlotte Tolliver of Louisville; grandchildren Rachel Denton, Weston (Kimberly) Kemmerer, Courtney Garrison, Levi Garrison, Hannah Tolliver, Brandon Bible and Austin Kemmerer; and great grandchildren Kaylee Denton. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathleen Trago. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday, July 16, 2016. A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in rural Bible Grove at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2016, with a one hour visitation at the church prior to the service at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery next to the church. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Paul's United Church of Christ and will be received at the funeral home or can be made online.
