After a blessedly short and pain-free battle with cancer, Arthur "Leon" Bailey peacefully left this world surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren on April 21, 2015. He married Eleanore Bash on June 8, 1958 and their union gave them five beautiful children: Elizabeth Kay (Charles) McFadden of Crockett, Texas, Gregory Arthur (his infant son who preceded him in death), Joyce Anne (Lars) Kristiansson of Richmond, Texas, Eric Leon Bailey of rural Iola and Jenny Eudora (Dean) McKinney of rural Louisville. His legacy lives on through his greatest joy, his eight grandchildren: Chad McFadden and Nic and Katie Kristiansson of Texas, and Tyler and Madison Thompson-McKinney, Courtney and Hannah Kramer-McKinney and Jaxson McKinney, of rural Louisville. He was the sixth of eight children born to Forrest and Myrtle (Potts) Bailey of Louisville on January 17, 1933. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Arden. He is survived by his siblings, Coe Dell Hilligoss of Effingham, Burdett (Iris) of Pana, Eilene Green of Metropolis, Clifford (Jo Ann) of Sailor Springs, Ralph (Charlene) of Louisville, and "another brother", cousin Bud Bailey, also of Louisville. Pallbearers are Tyler McKinney, Jaxson McKinney, Dean McKinney, Nic Kristiansson, Lars Kristiansson, Rick Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Jake Kramer, Chad McFadden and Charles McFadden. He was a family man that lived a simple life deriving great pleasure from his children and grandchidlren. J.W. Neal Funeral Home in Louisville, IL, is in charge of arrangements. All are welcome to join together at a graveside service to be held May 2nd at 3:30 pm at the Iola Cemetery. A celebration of life filled with storytelling and laughter through tears will follow at Red Bud Acres. Memorial may be made to the Clay County Hospice c/o Clay County Health Department or the Iola Cemetery, 1544 Cat Tail Rd, Edgewood, IL 62426 and will be received at the funeral home.
