Allen Blair

Allen Burdette Blair, age 92, of Newton, IL, passed away at 2:19 pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Allen Burdette was born May 14, 1921 in Blair township, Clay County, Illinois, the son of the late Elza Blair and the late Minnie (Hord) Blair. He married Vivian Frances Blair on July 5, 1947 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 1991. He later married Thelma Blair of Newton, IL. He spent his time as a self employed farmer and later retired. He was a member of Wabash Baptist Church and also served during the World War II in the United States Navy. Allen Burdette is survived by one son, Tary (Margaret) Blair of Mattoon, IL; one daughter, Janis (Richard) Freeman of Iola, IL; brother, John (Martha) Blair of Louisville; grandchildren, Eric Freeman of Westerville, OH, Toby (Nikki) Freeman of Louisville, Jared Freeman of Iola, Lesta (Andrew) Fitzpatrick of Riverton, IL; step granddaughters, Laura Mitchell of Charleston, IL, Michelle (Paul) Zigler of Charleston, IL; and four step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian, son Gary Allen Blair, brother Paul Blair and sister Bonnie Wiley. Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 18, 2014. Funeral service will be at J. W. Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 19, 2014. Interment will be at Christian Home Cemetery, Louisville, IL. Military rites will be accorded by Louisville American Legion Post #914.
